HOUSING HELP APP

450,000+ households. One system.
Zero guesswork.

Public housing inspections weren't breaking down for lack of information. They were breaking down because tenants, landlords, and inspectors each worked from different tools, with no shared sense of what came next. One missed detail slowed the inspection, delayed the repair, and forced a costly re-inspection. Digitizing the paperwork was never going to be enough; the real work was designing clarity at every decision point.

THE CHALLENGE

NSPIRE, HUD's inspection standard, carries hundreds of compliance requirements. Every inspection pulled in three user groups, three disconnected workflows, and a stack of manual paperwork. Turning that density into something a tenant, a landlord, and an inspector could each move through with confidence — that was the real assignment.

INSIGHT

The instinct was to fix this with better software. The problem wasn't software. It was uncertainty. When people don't know what comes next, they hesitate, and every hesitation becomes friction, a delay, an error. So instead of asking users to learn the regulation, the product would guide them through it, one clear decision at a time.

SOLUTION

Housing Help is a single platform connecting tenants, landlords, and inspectors. Rather than putting federal regulation in front of users, an AI layer interprets NSPIRE in the background and delivers each role clear, actionable guidance for their part of the inspection. The experience runs on one principle: always show the next step.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN

The interface communicates through motion, not manuals. Each interaction surfaces only the next relevant action, confirms progress the moment it happens, and keeps feedback running through the whole inspection. Contextual animation and live status tell users what changed, why it changed, and what's coming, so motion isn't decoration on top of the product. It's how the product talks.

IMPACT

In March 2026 the team presented Housing Help to Deloitte, and Deloitte carried the prototype forward into development for a market launch. What went with it: one repair order that a tenant, an inspector and a landlord each read in their own view, an AI layer that turns an NSPIRE requirement into one plain sentence, and a brand that makes a federal process feel approachable. The target is the missed details that cause delays and re-inspections across 450,000+ households.

ROLE & CONTRIBUTION

Art Director / Deloitte × SCADpro collaboration.

• Led art direction on an AI-guided housing inspection app that Deloitte carried into development for a market launch, translating NSPIRE compliance regulations into an inspection flow designed to serve 450,000+ households.

• Housing Help was built by a SCADpro studio of about 30 people. I led the art direction: the brand identity, the motion system, and the print and web collateral. I mapped the three user journeys with the UX team, who designed the app screens.
